| OHCC LIVING | DECEMBER 2024 | 11 Here's e Dirt OHCC is getting closer to receiving water saving rebates from the city of Oceanside Water Department. A representative from the city recently came out to verify the existence of turf areas to be qualified for removal. The panel turf between Cordoba Way and Barcelona will soon be treated twice, a week apart. This is required because it is composed of an extremely hardy grass called Kikuyu grass. Residents and their dogs should be careful to stay away from the sprayed turf. Residents of the nearby homes will receive notices of the pending work to be done before it is started. Flowering trees and bushes requiring minimal water will be planted to replace the turf. Trees and bushes help clean the air we breathe so our environment will be healthier in addition to our saving water. The other exciting news is that our new lake, which will soon store our well water for the golf course, will soon be excavated. Moving such a great amount of dirt would usually cost a lot of money in dump fees; however, a solution has been found which will save us time and money: lake dirt will be moved to the back of the golf course where there is currently turf which will also be sprayed twice and removed for another rebate. Again, please stay away from the sprayed turf. This fill-in dirt will provide a newly landscaped area with water-wise trees and bushes and a gentle ascent to Leisure Village Way, across from our back gate. Thank you for your patience while these improvements are being made. Landscape Committee
