| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2024 | 15 I cannot believe it's December already. This year has literally f lown by. The Master Architectural Committee (MAC) has had a busy and exciting year. As of Nov. 30, the MAC has reviewed 1,367 applications, an average of 124 applications per month. Of those 1,367 applications, the MAC denied 154 applications. Most of the applications that were denied was because of non- approved paint colors, incomplete applications, security motion lights or cameras that invaded the privacy of neighbors, moving air conditioners where it created problems for neighbors, or attempting improvements that were a violation of the CC&Rs and architectural rules. • 930 applications concerned painting, stucco, trim, or garage doors. Some applicants had to repaint their houses because they painted stucco, trim, or garage doors with unapproved colors prior to submitting an application. • 81 of the applications concerned replacing patio covers or installing new aluminum wood patio covers. • 173 of the applications concerned landscaping issues. • 118 applications involved miscellaneous items such as f lag poles, relocating air conditioners, solar electricity, gazebos, fence replacement, motion security lights, or doorbell cameras. • 84 items concerned violations of the CC&Rs or architectural rules or resulting from escrow inspections. The MAC conducted 26 hearings for people requesting a re-hearing on MAC decisions or for violations of the CC&Rs or architectural rules. The MAC has read every application submitted. Some members have driven to the residences to inspect and verify the proposed improvement. The committee members have devoted many hours to review all of the 1,367 applications submitted through November and they have tried to be fair and impartial in applying the rules, regulations, and CC&Rs of Sun Lakes Country Club. Gratitude is simply defined as thankfulness. Whether things have been good or not so good, we should be grateful for what we can do and the accomplishments we have made. Hopefully we can pass this on to others — the gift is in the giving. Our Library Committee, in coordination with the Beaumont Library, will have a special guest at our monthly meeting on Tues., Dec. 3 at 11 am in the Bus Room. The presentation will be about their family library program and how we can get involved assisting others. This could involve teaching reading to youngsters or those with learning disabilities and other educational needs. You are welcome to attend our meeting to hear how you can help others. Now that the time and weather have changed, come over to one of our libraries and grab a book and cozy up by the fireplace. Who knows? Someone might be laying the piano in the Main Clubhouse Library or singing a Christmas carol. In the North and South Clubhouse Libraries, we have holiday-themed puzzles for your puzzling pleasure. New books have been ordered and should be on display in the Main Clubhouse Library sometime this month. We ordered many books based on your input from our library survey — thank you!
