16 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2024 | Sun Lakes Country Club is home to two well-maintained golf courses for use by residents and their guests. The Championship Course is an 18-hole course featuring six sets of tees playing from 4,500 to 7,000 yards that makes it very inviting for players of all skill levels. This course features well-groomed fairways and challenging greens that make this course difficult yet friendly. The Executive Course, playing at 3,000 yards, is fun and challenging. The ravine, ponds, and bunkers that come into play on this course will provide you with a uniquely enjoyable golf experience. The Championship Course is home to three golf clubs for residents to join. The Men's Club holds member tournaments on the first Wednesday and third Saturday of the month. The Women's Club has a tournament on the first Saturday of the month and recurring events every Thursday. The Lady Niners also play every Thursday with a nine-hole event from the gold tees. Three more golf clubs residents can join play on the Executive Course. The Ladies Executive Golfers play every Tuesday. The Executive Men's Club plays every Friday with a tournament held on the fourth Friday of the month. The Saturday Morning Golf Group promotes itself as a social club open to all residents with play every Saturday. Golfers of all skill levels are welcome by these six clubs. Member tournaments and social activities are held regularly providing you the opportunity to meet your fellow neighbors. Many long-lasting friendships have come from being involved in these golf activities. If you are a new resident or a golfer who has put off joining, now is a great time to find a club or clubs that appeal to you and sign up to get a full year of benefits. At 80 pages, it includes pictures from residents plus articles from the Master Board, Delegate Assembly, FirstService, the Restaurant, the golf pro, and all the advisory committees. Clubs and groups send articles and photos about their activities to Sunlakesnews@yahoo.com by the sixth of each month. The Lifestyles Advisory Committee meets on the seventh of each month, unless otherwise specified, to review and edit the articles submitted for each month's issue of the magazine. We meet with Master Board liaison Beverly Simmons, Assistant General Manager Jason Ewals, and Recreation Manager Linda Vang to keep updated about events coming up in our community. We also publish want ads and for sale items from residents at no cost and hide a monthly joke for residents to find. Responses to our "Get the Joke" contest are put in a hat and a winner is randomly drawn, earning a restaurant gift card as a prize. Photographs taken by residents of areas within Sun Lakes are used on the magazine cover. We also post pictures of residents on their vacations, or of their beloved pets.
