We've all heard the proverb "it takes a village" and the Recreation Department truly appreciates all the members of our "village." I want to thank the DOG (Dog Owners Group) for being our sponsor for The Annual Halloween Pet Parade. Their contribution helped ensure that day was a great success for all the 30 canine participants and their human companions. In addition, I want to thank the many members who made contributions to our 13th Annual Veteran's Day Walk and a very special "thanks so much" to some of our sponsors. Message From The Recreation Department Manager District Tree Lighting Dec. 1, Main Clubhouse parking lot, 4:30 pm, lighting at 5 pm. Join the Recreation Department for our annual kickoff to the holiday season! Meet us at the Main Clubhouse to watch as the decorated District Christmas Trees light up the season. Afterward, join us in the Ballroom for hot cider, hot chocolate, cookies, and holiday entertainment. Dec. 10, Main Clubhouse Bus Room Thank you to all the districts who selected families for the Holiday Wish Program. Those who wish to drop off the gifts in the Main Clubhouse Bus Room, please bring them on Wed., Dec. 10 between 8:30 am and 12 pm. To ensure that your gifts are delivered to the proper family, please make sure they are boxed and labeled with the family number. The Recreation Department is proud to host another Holiday Outdoor Home Decorating Contest. Let's light up Sun Lakes with some Holiday Spirit. Open to everyone in Sun Lakes. If you would like to register your home, please register at the Main Clubhouse with the Receptionist; the deadline to register is Dec. 5. Judging will be conducted by the Recreation Committee in the week of Dec. 9, beginning at 6:30 pm. There will be awards and prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Winners will be announced on Dec. 16 during Monday Night Football in the Sandwedge Bar & Grill. Decorations must come down no later than Jan. 4, 2025. All finalists will be posted in the Lifestyles Magazine, Channel 97 & Good Day Sun Lakes Facebook page.
