26 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | DECEMBER 2024 | Season's Greetings! The African Heritage Connection Club is preparing to embark on a series of wonderful events and activities. Approved as a club in May 2024, the mission and vision of the African Heritage Connection Club (AHCC) is to celebrate, appreciate, and share the joys of our African heritage and common identity at Sun Lakes Country Club. Sun Lakers of African heritage come together to enjoy our common identity and historical interests through a variety of activities. These ongoing informational, inspirational, and social events keep us connected to each other and our shared history. Be prepared for a fabulous evening of entertainment and fellowship at the AHCC holiday party on Dec. 16 from 6 to 9:30 pm in the North Clubhouse. Vocalist Maritri Garrett, and DJ REMEMBA, will provide the entertainment for this momentous event. Tickets for the holiday party are $40 for members, $45 for non-members, which includes dinner. Part of our African heritage connection and our shared history is the AHCC Book Club, focusing on Black literature. The AHCC Book Club will have their first monthly meeting on Jan. 8, at the Main Clubhouse Atrium, from 6 to 7:30 pm. The first book we will discuss is the novel James, by Percival Everette.
