After a two-month hiatus, the Doo Wop and Disco dances resume in February. Hosts are Susan and Wayne Vogel, teaming up with Board member and event coordinator, Janet Mrvos. The theme is "2025 — Fun Times. We aren't here for the long time but we're here for the good time." In March, the versatile Clay Colton Band returns for the annual St. Paddy's Day party. Can't wait to see lots of costumed leprechauns! Mark your calendars for party dates in 2025. They are Sun., Feb. 16; Sun., March 16; Sat., April 12; Sun., May 11; Fri., June 13; Fri., July 11; Fri., Aug. 15; Fri., Sept. 19; Fri., Oct. 31; and Fri., Nov. 21. You don't have to get out on the dance floor to enjoy the Doo Wop parties. Lots of attendees enjoy listening to music, socializing with friends and meeting new ones. Members who have already volunteered to be party hosts in 2025 include Karla Sando and Leilani Resney. If you would be willing to host a party, just contact Janet Mrvos at jaynutrn@aol.com. It was a busy holiday season for Doo Wop members. For the party in November, they collected pajamas and toys for the San Diego Rescue Mission in Oceanside. These donations meant a lot to the children of homeless families. The mission works to improve the lives of people without housing throughout the year, not just during the holidays. On Dec. 7, Doo Wop, in coordination with the Racquet Club and Golf Club, sponsored a "Meet Santa" photo shoot in the Lanai. Residents took their grandkids to capture on camera memories that will last throughout the years. Drinks and goodies were passed out to the boys and girls who had their pictures taken with jolly old St. Nick. Thank you to Santa Greg Copeland, who donated his time to the three-hour event. Also in December, hosts for 2024 were honored by the Board of Directors at a luncheon held at 2051 Cucina Italiano. Hosts were Andrea Anderson, Julie Baumer, Susan Brainin-Martin, Karen Hamm, Jeri Laughlin, Janet Kawal, Janet Mrvos, Lorraine Novellino, Pele Pyle, Cecilia Quinn, Karla Sando, Laura Urban, and Donna Walters. I also want to thank Tony Sando, Nominating Committee chair; Nick Novellino, who handled heating and AC for the parties; Jim Kaminsky; and, of course, the Clubhouse staff that helps make things run smoothly. We are looking forward to another fun year of dancing at 10 parties, creative themes by hosts, and great music by bands and DJs. See you on the dance floor.
