| OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2025 | 31 Another Bingo season is about to start. Our first Bingo game of the season will be on Sat., Jan. 18 at 6:45 pm. The door will open at 6:15 pm and the first call will be at 6:45 pm. Don't be late, remember that we had a group vote and agreed to start a little earlier, 6:45 pm. Bingo is making a fun change this year. We will have a different theme each month. January is Polka Dot night. Wear Polka Dots. There will be three prizes each month for the best representation of the evenings theme. Our mystery judge(s) will choose three people, who will then be voted on by the players in the room during our ice cream break. First prize is $50, 2nd prize is $25, and 3rd prize is custom, one-of- a-kind theme canvas bag. Our wonderful sponsors this month are Tim Miller and his staff from San Diego Kitchen Pros and Sue Silva a specialist in OHCC Real Estate. Thanks to both of you for your continued support of Bingo. During the winter break Greg Gamble, a Bingo volunteer, and I have worked on the Bingo Flashboard. Getting that poor, old, and tired f lashboard back up and running has proven to be elusive. Each time we think we have it fixed; we find another problem. There was a severe burn on one of the circuits on the motherboard. We got one circuit fixed, only to find that another circuit was not working properly. However, we are still cautiously optimistic. The motherboard is being sent out for repair again. If this repair doesn't work, we may need to give up. For now, players, I am guardedly optimistic. If you see the f lashboard on the stage, you will know that our repairs were successful. Otherwise, excel will be our friend for the future. "There are more people doing good stuff and moving us forward than there are people sowing division. I surround myself with people who have faith." At the 2024 Annual Meeting and Luncheon, the Papercrafting Club welcomed two new leaders to serve in 2025 — Karin Barnes was voted in as President and Jacqueline Ettinger, Vice-President. The Club's Treasurer, Shelley Bean and Secretary, Heidi Kuhn will continue serving with the Board in the new year. Karin will take the reins from Rhonda Anchales, longtime Club President who led the establishment of Papercrafting as an individual Club separate from the Sewing Club. The PC (Papercrafting) Club is made up of five creative groups who meet weekly. They include a Zoom group (started during Covid), led by Diana Hoffman, which meets via online Zoom in their own home; a Newbie group, led by Rhonda Anchales, Irma Ojeda and Vicki Dibble which focuses on the basics of crafting cards; and three paper crafting design groups, led by co-leaders Karen Lohr, Chris Sanderson and Sandy Miller/Young Le who all create on various levels. Also, there is a Think Outside the Envelope group called TOTE class, led by Karin Barnes/Lolo Kleeman — which features electronic Cricut training to produce stickers, vinyl designs for aprons and other fabric items and framed shadow box home decor and holiday designs. TOTE class also offers traditional outside the box paper creations like handmade paper stars, snowf lakes, wreaths and framed items. The Club's group co- leaders are an essential component of the PC Club who are highly valued for their expertise and generosity of time. The PC Club also sponsors booths at various OHHC events and sponsors a major event listed below. Upcoming Papercraing Events: Do Dues Day — Jan. 11 throughout OHCC Clubhouse. Art & Craft Spring Fair — March 29 — Abravanel Hall. The schedule for PC Group creative time is Fridays in two-hour slots from 9 am to 3 pm. The Newbie group meets on Tuesday from 11 am – 1 pm. You're welcome to stop by our PC Club table on Jan. 11 at Dues Day in the Abravanel Hall to check out the Club activities and pick up a name tag designed by the Club just for you if you sign up to join. And last but not least — a huge thank you is extended to Debbie Cea, fellow paper crafter and our magazine writer extraordinaire. She has diligently spread the word of Paper Crafting Club activities and related news over the past four years.
