Happy New Year 2025 Nothing is more pleasant than exploring a library. Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. ey open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore, achieve and contribute to improving our quality of life. e only thing you absolutely need to know is the location of the library. And one of the best is our library right here at Ocean Hills Country Club. As you enter the Clubhouse, your eyes are drawn to the open doors of a lovely space, where a man sits in a chair reading a book as he warms himself by a fireplace. He is surrounded by shelves holding the treasures of the world. There are biographies, novels, historical fiction and much more. He spots a shelf of books, all written by OHCC residents. A woman sits at a nearby table working on a crossword puzzle and librarians busy themselves helping others find the books they have reserved. If you simply want to sit and enjoy a peaceful hour or so, enjoy reading a magazine or playing a game of chess, your library awaits. One of the special treats of being a Library Club member is free admission to our "Afternoon with Authors" series. Our next speaker, Robert Genat, will be sharing his expertise on Great Cars I have Known on Feb. 22. He is an author and photographer who has written more than 40 books on military and transportation subjects. In 2003, he was awarded the prestigious Dean Batchelor award by the Motor Press Guild for his book e Birth of Hot Rodding. Some of his more famous books are Hot Rod Milestones, Little Deuce Coupe, Lowriders, Funny Cars, and Modern Police Cars. Robert is also a dedicated gearhead who has restored many cars, including his tri-power 1962 Pontiac Catalina Convertible. So, if you have ever wondered what's under the hood of some of the greatest cars of all times, be sure to see his presentation. Don't miss joining a great club with so many benefits and sign up for the Library Club on Do Dues Day on Jan. 11, or write a check for $15 at the front desk any time. Membership entitles your entire family to attend all speaker events, and free check out of all books. We are proud to introduce our new 2025 Board: President, Becky Tykzsinski; Vice President, Linda Budd; Secretary, Diane Shields; Treasurer, Ellen Kippel. We send a special thank you to our outgoing Board members for their dedication and service. Reminder to all members: please do not share your checked out books with others. Instead, return them to the library so they can be managed and shared by others.
