16 | OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2025 | The benefits of ballroom dancing are well documented. According to the Health Fitness Revolution magazine in their article titled "Top 10 Health Benefits of Ballroom Dancing", there are plenty of keys to happiness, and dancing is one of them. The article also states that ballroom dancing is a wonderful way for people from all walks of life to get in shape while also releasing their creative juices. This goes past merely benefiting your body - to also benefiting your state of mind and social connections. Dancing is a great social activity, and it has been proven that socializing regularly can have vast health benefits on self-esteem, stress, and even help prevent the onset of dementia. Learning dance routines can enhance cognitive function. It requires memory, focus, and mental agility as individuals remember and execute specific steps and patterns. The club holds monthly dances, weekly dance lessons, and weekly practice sessions. Our dances are generally held on the second Friday of the month. Dress is casual. Join us for our next dance which will be in Abravanel Hall on Valentine's Day, Fri., Feb. 14. Details will be forthcoming. The weekly dance lessons will resume in February.
