Helping Hands Group The Genealogy Interest Group is a growing group of individuals who want to find out about their heritage and their ancestry. Curiosity about those who came before and formed us is important. The group provides tools to do your research and help in getting started. For the experience we can offer suggestions to break through the brick walls of past generations. Meeting with others looking in the same geographical areas is a great help. We have a few Apple computers and PCs in the computer room. It is helpful if you want to bring your own laptop. We will meet for Help Sessions on Fri., Jan. 10 and Sat., Jan. 25. Newcomers are welcome. All sessions can be seen on the TAG calendar. We are happy to offer the World Explorer version of Ancestry.com free of charge in the computer room. This program would cost an individual over $100 a month. We also offer the Family Tree Maker on several of the computers in the lab. A family tree can be started and compiled with either or both of these programs with many hints to assist in your research. The coordinators are Dorothy Miller, Shirley Rock and Peggy Singh. Contact us at rootsatOHCC@gmail.com Genealogy Interest Group Happy healthy new year to all! Hopefully, your holiday visitors are safely ensconced in their own homes by now. It's been very busy here at Grandma's Closet. Please plan as far in advance as you can, because some of the items in our inventory are and have been very popular. We suggest lining up reservations as soon as you have your guests' itineraries. You don't want to be caught short-handed, especially when those precious little ones are concerned. If anyone needs some items for the baby or little kids to better accommodate them, Grandma's Closet may have just the ticket! We keep a list of people who have items to loan, their contact information, as well as with the items they wish to share. When someone inquires about borrowing items, we'll supply the list, and the donor and recipient can work out the details. We offer these loans to be used by our residents for our visiting grandchildren. The borrowed items (except car seats and car booster seats) are not to be taken out of the village and used elsewhere or by anyone other than the borrower. If you have items you wish to loan out (strollers, car seats, carriers, Pack'n'Plays, high chairs, books, toys, games, puzzles, etc.), send an email to Naomi (NaomiBKatz@iCloud.com) and/or Rich (redcisc@ gmail.com), enumerating those items and age-appropriateness, along with your name, address, phone numbers and email address. Those items will be added to the list. If you find yourself in need of an item or two, please let Rich or Naomi know, and we will forward the list to you. If your visiting grandchildren have left behind items, you won't be needing them for a while, consider offering them for loan at Grandma's Closet. If you have any items of clothing or furniture for babies or children which you can't store or use, please let us know. We will gladly pick up the items and bring them to Father Joe's Village, which is always in desperate need. Thank you so much for your attention and anticipated assistance. Your continued generosity and support are truly appreciated. ~ Naomi B Katz and Rich Halkyard Grandma's Closet
