| OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2025 |27 Art Lovers On Tues., Dec. 3, The Art Lovers Club held its annual Holiday Champagne Luncheon at The Shadowridge Golf Club with a record turnout! After a Champagne Toast and a delicious three-course lunch, our special guest speaker, Amy Forsythe, took to the stage and gave us a fascinating insight into her life in the military, specifically in the Marines as a Photojournalist. Amy has worked out of Camp Pendleton since 1995 and was raised in a military family in San Francisco. She was trained in photography in the Marines and was deployed to work on the Pakistan/Afganistan Border. She nearly escaped injury when a suicide bomber exploded a bomb in the area where she had just left. She has been deployed all over the world including such countries as Romania, Sri Laka, Cuba, Iraq, and many others. While in Afghanistan, she lived in both tents with only outside bathrooms as well as container modules that were not too bad. She developed many friendships with Afghans and the Afghan Media. She has written a book containing many of her fascinating photos. She also discussed Camp Pendleton where soldiers live and are always training for the next deployment. Many areas of Camp Pendleton can be visited such as the historic Ranch House. She also spoke about the many Veteran Organizations in North County such as Woman's Warriors, Mt. Soledad National Monument and Operation Game On to name a few. The Art Lovers Club has had some turnover and needs your HELP! If you have good computer skills and can send out emails and manage our website, we very much need you to join our Board! Also, we need a person to write the OHCC Living articles, create artistic flyers, and to help me with our bus trips! Please volunteer; I know you will nd it very rewarding as I do. Written By Susan Pick, President To our Ocean Hills Country Club friends and neighbors, we wish each of you a very Happy and Healthy 2025!
