| OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2025 | 33 Woodchucks From all of us here at Woodchucks, we hope your 'Holidaze' were wonderful, and we wish a Happy New Year to all! Once again, the generosity of our community surpassed our dreams and the Annual Toy Drive was an amazing success! We received over $19,000 in gift cards and checks for the Camp Pendleton YMCA to accompany the huge truckload of hand-made and donated new toys. The Armed Services YMCA at Pendleton distributes these gifts to the children of active military families, including the Armed Services Camper Fund. The Chorale Group sang carols while residents dropped off their goodies. Active-duty Marines loaded their trucks and managed to join the Chorale, and they even found time to play some Bocce while they were here. We are eternally grateful to all of our Elves and Helpers, including the Sewing Club, Veterans Club, the Monday Morning Painters, the OHCC Chorale, and of course, our generous residents here in OHCC. Written by Larry See Happy New Year to everyone. We hope you celebrated with friends and family to ring in the New Year! It's nice to begin the year with hopes and possibilities. The Travel Club is busy planning day trips to parts of Southern California. Places we would like to visit and hope you will also. If there is a place you would like to visit or experience, please feel free to contact our President Adele Siesel (adelesiesel2@gmail.com) with your suggestions. Here are our upcoming events: Jan. 14, 6 pm. Our Kickoff for 2025 will include mini-croissant sandwiches, chips, soda and ice cream bars followed by a presentation from Will Reese from AFC Vacations. The cost is $5, which must be paid by Jan. 2. This is open to 2024 and 2025 members, or you may pay the $10 dues at the event. Feb. 19 - Alpine Wild Adventure. Come join us for a tour of lions, tigers and bears, a sanctuary for exotic animals such as the afore mentioned plus bobcats, leopards, llamas, horses, goats, sheep, chickens, peacocks and a macaw! Following the tour, we will head to Viejas Casino where you may try your luck at any of the gaming of slot machines. Additionally, there is an outlet mall across from the Casino with a food court. April 16 - Kimberly Crest House & Gardens in Redlands featuring a Victorian Chateau and Italian Renaissance styled garden. More details to follow. Aug. 13 - Pageant of the Masters. A favorite trip to Laguna Beach to see this outdoor theatrical performance where famous works of art are brought to life onstage. This year's theme is GOLD COAST: Treasures of California. Frequently people on a trip need to cancel. Many people on our wait lists actually have had the opportunity to go on our trips. To be placed on the wait list or to register for any of our trips, leave a check made out to the OH Travel Club, in the Travel Club envelope at the Clubhouse front desk. Add $5 to the price if you are not a member of the Club. You will receive an email confirming your registration. We certainly hope you will join us on one of our trips!
