| OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2025 | 43 The Swim & Wellness Club is proud and excited to announce our Jan. 22 wellness presentation - the only free program this coming year that is open to the entire OHCC community. We will be focusing on how to heal fractured relationships (family, friends, community) due to a lack of understanding and empathy for one another's beliefs. Building mutual trust and respect is at the core of our ability to minimize our differences. It is fundamental to emotional well-being. We will have a facilitated dialogue with senior representatives of the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) and the National Conflict Resolution Center (NCRC) to discuss the root causes of our disagreements (from ignorance of the 'other' to fear, and even hatred). We will also be discussing - and practicing - communication tactics that can be used to heal our differences. Please join us from 1 to 3 pm on Jan. 22 in Abravanel Hall to hear this discussion - and bring your friends and neighbors! The program will be non-partisan in nature, with the objective of offering practical skills and insights designed to enhance our emotional well- being in these interesting times. And come to our table on Do Dues Day; we'll have more information on the program for you then. Our November holiday party was a great success. We had a delightful meal, completed with wine and topped off with pumpkin and apple pies. Many thanks to Carol Hirsch and Karen Tasch, along with their kitchen staff, for planning and facilitating the event. The business meeting began with the election of officers for 2025. Officers and their positions are Michael Gordon, President; Sara Stewart, Vice President; David Hirsch, Treasurer; and Anita Simons, Secretary. Outgoing President Robin Bleeker shared some thoughts about her three years as President. One of Robin's goals was to bring more attention to the "Wellness" portion of our club. She spearheaded finding health-oriented speakers for three meetings every year, including the January meetings which were opened to the whole OHCC community. Thank you, Robin, for your leadership and dedication! We also thanked Bob Clarke for his service as the club's outgoing treasurer. Bob has been our Treasurer for 10 years! You have earned a rest, Bob. Thank you for your efforts to keep us in the black! Some other volunteers who were honored were the instructors at our annual Swim Clinic. Many thanks go to Ken Krueger, Robin Ryan, Lynn Topar and Phil Topar. Last July, 14 OHCC residents were the beneficiaries of their expert instruction in learning to swim. And remember that Swim & Wellness club members can access FREE swim lessons all year round. Written by Sara Stewart, VP Swim & Wellness Club In Loving Memory Dr. JACK MORGAN Our 2025 ocers: David Hirsch, Treasurer; Anita Simons, Secretary; Michael Gordon, President; Sara Stewart, Vice President
