| OHCC LIVING | JANUARY 2025 | 7 Happy New Year! At the end of every year, I try to review what I have accomplished during the previous 12 months. Some years the list is quite long, usually because I had to carry over one or more unfinished tasks from the previous year or even the past several years! This year, I am publishing my list of SERT related items I personally hope/will achieve in 2025: _____Rejoin SERT now! $12 per resident or $200 for Lifetime membership _____Review and update my medical history on my Vial of Life form and SMART911.com _____Test my smoke and carbon monoxide detectors _____Test our Amazon Emergency Assists program (24/7 protection) _____Rotate my emergency supplies (out with the old and in with the new); this includes bottled water _____Check my First Aid Kits and replace items that we used _____Review my important papers; are they up to date (wills, trusts, advanced medical directives)? Are they all in one place and easily accessible to grab and go in an emergency _____Review my emergency contacts; has information changed? Check with my neighbors too, in case their information has changed _____Review my house exit plan in case of a fire _____Check my fire extinguishers (still fully charged with the gauge needle in the GREEN and give them a good shake to keep the chemicals inside from clumping) _____Look around the house to see if items need to be moved or removed to reduce trip and fall hazards _____Make sure heavy furniture and cabinets are secured to the wall studs in case of an earthquake _____Have fun and enjoy retirement! (Okay, this really is not a SERT thing, but it is important) In 2025, SERT will continue to work to achieve a safer OHCC experience. The Master Board approved in November the purchase of a trailer for SERT. (Thank you!) This will enable SERT to move out of the shed on Heritage Hill and become mobile. Below are things we are still considering: • Purchase and install a dedicated two-way radio tower for emergency use by SERT • Ways to notify all residents when an emergency is declared If you have ideas, please share them by sending an email to OHCCSERT@gmail.com Thank you for supporting SERT. Please stay safe and healthy in 2025! Happy New Year By Tom Porter, President By the time this article is delivered, November and December will have passed, and we are in the new year. So, HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope the festivities with friends and family were wonderful. With engaging conversations and lots of food to make everyone happy! There were lots of events going on at Ocean Hills Country Club, particularly the Christmas parade which I know was a great success. To start the new year, I'm just going to relay some reminders. Please inform your guests and family to stop at all stop signs, if the signs said yield there wouldn't be any citations, but it is a red octagon, and you are required to stop. Drive safely around the community, this is an active 55 and older. Being active means there are lots of walkers within this community. Please have your dog leashed within the community, we don't want anything to happen with your cute companion! Any guest or family members staying overnight need an overnight pass. If there are none on file, a citation will be issued. Also, any residents that require their vehicle to be parked on the driveway overnight will also need a pass. That should be it for now! As always, thank you OHCC residents, for your vital role in our community. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in adhering to the rules. We are committed to serving you and the community; your feedback is invaluable. If you have any concerns or suggestions that you would like to see addressed in a future issue of OHCC Living Magazine, we encourage you to share them. Please feel free to contact me via email or phone. My office at the front gate is always open for Ocean Hills Country Club residents. ~ Tony Duong, Account Manager, Securitas Security Services, (760) 766-1458, cell (760) 505-2146, Tony.Duong@securitasinc.com Community Patrol Services
