By Valorie Hillerich The other day, my husband and I were leaving for a Colony event. It was about 6 pm, which equates to nighttime these days. We got to the corner of our street, stopped, and almost turned head-on into a couple walking across the street wearing ALL BLACK. It was frightening, so close. Has this ever happened to you? Meet John and Sarah Maclachan, a Colony couple who love to walk at night. But there's something different about them that we all can appreciate. To make themselves easily seen, they wear reflective vests. Take a look at the photos below, showing John and Sarah at night without a vest (do you even see them?), and then with a vest. John said he's lost track of the number of people he's seen (or barely seen) walking in The Colony at night, sometimes even three abreast, and wearing black or dark clothing. Worse, most of them also did not have a flashlight or any sort of reflective item. After our near accident, I ordered a reflective vest for myself from Amazon (under $5!). They are also available at Walmart, Home Depot, Lowe's, and Ace Hardware. Enjoy your walk or bike ride through The Colony, but as daylight fades, FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY, please wear a reflective vest and let it glow, let it glow, let it glow! John & Sarah prepare to walk WITHOUT their reective vests. John & Sarah wearing their reective vests! Let it glow! I ordered one from Amazon for under $5.
