| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2025 | 53 After a fantastic and sold-out Holiday Season Party on Nov. 10, combined with celebrating the 249th Anniversary of the Founding of our Beloved Marine Corps, the Veterans of Sun Lakes CC closed out 2024 with a new record of nearly 150 members, of whom one in three are combat veterans. Overall, just one-quarter of one-percent of all Sun Lakers belong to our Elite Club. With 2024 in the history books, we launch 2025 on Tues., Jan. 14 with our regular monthly meeting, beginning at 9 am sharp in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Nominations for the new Board of Directors as well as Executive Director, Treasurer, and all Branch Representatives will begin at the January meeting with Installation of Officers scheduled for the February meeting. Anyone interested in submitting an application for the Board, please contact Will Baker, USMC-Executive Director at (951) 946-0412 by Jan. 7. Qualifications for the Board positions are the same as Club membership as a whole, in-that you must be dedicated to service to our members and be supportive of our active duty military. You do not have to be a Veteran yourself, as most everyone has had a spouse, friend, relative, or other person who served in our military. There are no dues at this time and to the best of our ability, we strive to remain non-political in nature. We thank all who gave of their time, efforts, and abilities in 2024 in our Club and look forward to growth and giving praise to those who provide freedom to the United States of America. On behalf of our members who served in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, or Coast Guard, we thank those in uniform today as well as our fellow Veterans throughout the world. We will always recognize our POW/MIA at every meeting. They are never forgotten. Veterans Group
