| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2025 | 61 Table Tennis/Ping Pong Our regular play times are Mondays and Wednesdays 4 to 6 pm, Fridays 1 to 3 pm, and Saturdays 10 am to 12 pm. Because of scheduling conf licts for the Ballroom, we sometimes get bumped into "special play times," that are updated on the SLCC website, and printed copies are available on play days in the Ballroom. There is also a touch screen monitor in the Main Clubhouse Lobby, where the schedule can be brought up. If there are any questions or concerns, contact Gary Lile at (805) 722-7427, 4lile@yahoo.com, or John Williams at (961) 489-9737, jgwms.williams@gmail.com. All comers are welcome, the only requirements are laced tennis shoes, and a desire to have fun, play with friends, and get some excellent health benefits from a low risk activity. This month we are highlighting our newest member of SLCC Table Tennis, Sudipto Chakraborty. Sudip is an electrical engineer by profession, just retired September of this year from Underwriters Laboratories (now UL solutions), a safety engineering company. Wikipedia says UL Solutions performs safety testing for OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and multiple other organizations. It is the best-known product safety and certification organization globally. He owns a home in SLCC; in the garage of his house he had a Ping Pong robot he was using for practice. Next thing, he decided to join our club, and now we have two robots to play with. These robots can be adjusted to every skill level, and can be programmed to produce multiple types of spins. We had our Christmas Party on Dec. 11 in the South Clubhouse. It was a potluck showcasing a festive, diverse culinary, Christmas experience: ham, turkey, scalloped potatoes, healthy salads, cranberry sides and deserts. We danced, ate, and imbibed. pm, Fridays 1 to 3 pm, and Saturdays 10 am to 12 pm.
