28 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2025 We have questions … YOU have the answers! The Community Planning Committee is conducting an in-depth study of trends for senior, active living communities to ensure that we sustain our status as a premier, resort-style 55+ community. Thus, we are particularly interested in soliciting your input regarding your experience living here at Four Seasons Beaumont. A questionnaire will be distributed in February 2025 in multiple formats via email, the Daily Report, and hard copies on hand with our Lodge front desk attendants. The resident questionnaire is designed to get information about the facilities, amenities, and activities used and valued at Four Seasons Beaumont. You will be provided the opportunity to share what you find most enjoyable and provide suggestions regarding our amenities, facilities and activities. Your opinion is of vital importance to us as we strive to maintain a most appealing lifestyle for us all. ~ Jane Hopper, janehooper@yahoo.com Community Planning Landscape Committee The month of January is named after Janus. In ancient Roman religion and myth, Janus was the god of beginnings, transitions, and endings. So, in celebrating his heritage, we look both forward and backward. And this is what I'm doing in this article. During 2024, the Landscape Committee spent many hours observing the landscape throughout the HOA parcels, the Front Yard Cost Center, and the Springdales, and discussing the walks at our monthly meetings. Most of our accomplishments are small in nature: bare-area refurbishment, replacement of dead plants, removal of trees causing damage to structures, and substitution of dead trees with species more amenable to our location. There are, however, some major accomplishments that I want to mention: the Golden Sword Yuccas in the Four Season Circle Bridge, Trail C repairs, Springdale rosemary replacement, Edison Easement refurbishment, and the Zen Butterf ly Garden at The Summit. The Trail C repairs were especially noteworthy. The portion of the trail that meanders though the Veterans Park had ruts and protrusions that were downright dangerous. The surface there now, although perhaps not fully amenable for running, is much safer for walking. The Zen Garden will help to utilize our abundant natural California plant life as Patti Pitts so well explained in her February 2023 Breeze article. Following the historical trend, the committee anticipated major enhancements to the HOA, FYCC, and Springdales landscape in 2025. Some of the projects we hoped to fund were/are: west slope refurbishment of east portion of Four Seasons Circle, The Lodge parking lot refurbishment, Breckenridge slope refurbishment, and Phase A & B removal of HOA rosemary and rockrose. Looking forward, 2025 is going to be a good year for the community, although the Landscape Committee will receive significantly less funding than we received in 2024. Reserve funding is lower than we'd like to see it and an overwhelming percentage of the community expenses are contracts. The Board had to make some hard decisions. The Landscape Committee will deal with the lower funding levels by only undertaking Park West proposals that most provide benefit to the entire community. Residents are welcome to attend our monthly meetings on the third Tuesday of the month at 1 pm in the RCN Conference Room. If you like to walk and enjoy looking at our plants and trees, you can also join us on our Friday walks that begin at 8 am. Contact Kat Hughes of FirstService to find out where we are meeting, as meeting places change with each walk. ~ Kirk Freyermuth, kafreyer@ frontier.com Social Committee HAPPY NEW YEAR!
