FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2025 61 Tennis Club So, Dec. 31, 2024, concluded the first quarter of the 21st century, and Jan. 1, 2025, begins the second quarter. Thus, it is a propitious time for the Tennis Club to move from the Covidian Calendar and back to the Gregorian one, where January is the start of the year. The Tennis Club will hold its annual Membership Meeting and Dinner on Jan. 25, instead of waiting until April. The dinner will be free to members who pay their dues on or before the meeting. As of this writing, the location for the meeting and dinner is uncertain because of the damage to the Multipurpose Room at The Courts. Please look for emails containing more details about the time, location, cost for guests, and amount of dues. January is also a good time to begin planning your visits to the BNP Paribas Tennis Tournament in March at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. As one of the major events on the professional tennis circuit for men and women, the tickets sell quickly, and the crowds are huge. You can see lots of tennis for low ticket prices on the early days of the event when there are some qualifying matches, and you can watch even the top players up close on the practice courts. If you can settle for somewhat lower attractions (and quality) and completely free, come out to The Courts when our USTA teams are competing with teams from Coachella Valley tennis clubs. Our team actually got to play on the courts at Indian Wells, and we got a tour of Stadium One, one of the largest tennis venues in the world. The only players who can practice on that court are those who have previously won the tournament, but we could look at it. Mike Olson is managing the recycling project, so please look for emails regarding collection days for the empty plastic bottles, aluminum cans, and wine bottles. Leave your bags at Mike's house on the designated days. Playdays are scheduled for the last Saturday of each month, though we won't have coffee and donuts until we can get back into the MPR. Sign-ups begin at 8:30 am and play begins at 9 am, and tennis drills and coaching will occur beginning at 9 am on the other Saturdays. Everyone is welcome. Morning and evening tennis sign-ups are available on the website at https://sites.google.com/view/tennis- fourseasons/home. ~ Steve Hovey (951) 712-5319, sahovey47@ hotmail.com Chikako and Richard on Playday FSB Team at Indian Wells Playday with no coee or doughnuts
