Honoring our veterans at the Veteran's Day Luncheon
on Nov. 11 was a huge success, attended by 145 residents
and some family members. Aer enjoying the lunch from
Calhoun's Family BBQ which consisted of pulled pork, brisket,
baked beans and coleslaw, guests were treated to a delicious
Haagan Dazs ice cream bar served by the West Valley ROTC
cadets. Following the recognition of donations to deserving
charities and local organizations, the highlight of the event was
the SDV Quilters Club presenting gorgeous Quilts of Valor to
seven of our SDV resident veterans. To add a cherry on top of
the event, recognition and challenge coins were presented to
Larry Carmel , Charlie Cashen, Gerry Chase of the Cloverlane
Foundation and Raul Villa for all of their exceptional service or
superior donor contributions. It was an honor well-deserved!
