By Suzette Strauss, Resident
I rst heard of Friendsgiving from my
daughter who lives in Orange County.
She said it was simply anksgiving
Potluck with friends around the time of
anksgiving and featuring traditional
foods served in each of their families
for this special meal. I thought it was
a wonderful idea and was delighted
when she asked for our family recipe
of zucchini casserole, handed down
from my mom. She reported having
a wonderful time and even returned
with an empty dish. Fast-forward to
November 2024. Finally, I was invited to
a Friendsgiving! My husband, Ric, and I
each brought a dish. It was such a joy to
feast with so many from our community.
We saw friends we hadn't seen for
months and made new friends at our
table. As I looked around and observed
the joyous atmosphere, I was even more
thankful for the opportunity to live here
at Solera. e food was amazing! I think
I tried a bit of everything, and my taste
buds were dancing with joy. ank you
to Mike and Sharon Wynne who initiated
the event, as well as, the members of
the planning committee – Gregg and
Lynn Tyler, Pam Moe, Irv Waldo, Irene
Cianfarani and Julio Arostegui, Jim and
Mary Ellen Daylong, and Vladimir and
Ildiko Venczel-Dimitrov for making this
rst Friendsgiving so special. I hope we
celebrate Friendsgiving in 2025!
