12 | SUN CITY CORE COURIER | FEBRUARY 2025 | Knitters and Crocheters End the Year on a High Note: We had a fantastic year as a club and had lots of new members join. We meet on Tuesdays at Civic Hall from 11 am to 3 pm. All are welcome to join, visit, or learn how to knit or crochet. There is no fee to join. We accept any donations of yarn or money to buy yarn so we can continue to donate what we make to numerous organizations we are giving to at this time and are always looking for any organization that could benefit from what we make. We have raffles going for Valentine's Day and Easter afghans made by our members. We had three previous raffles, and all winners were delighted. We hope those who received an afgan, lapgan, or blanket from us were pleased with their gift. Our year ended at our Christmas Party with 1,881+ items made and given away. Knitters & Crocheters Bunco Fun Bunch We get together every fourth Wednesday from 1 to 4 pm in Civic Hall (26601 Cherry Hills Boulevard). There are no dues, just bring your entrance gift card (and a snack to share), meet new friends, and play the game. For those who haven't played Bunco, it's a fast-paced and easy-to-learn game. If you can roll dice and move from chair to chair, then you can play. President Mary Jane reviews the Bunco Rules before we start, and there's always someone to answer questions for the newbies. We play three to four games during an afternoon. Gambling is not allowed so we play for gift cards. For example, the top winners may take home over $90 in various gift cards while other players could win $70, $50, or $20 in gift cards, depending on the Bunco category won. We play on long tables so there's lots of room for our snacks and cups, and nothing interferes with our dice roll. We usually have at least 28 players (seven tables) and many winners. All SCCA residents (and their invited guests) may come. We ask for your name, phone numbers, email, and current SCCA Activities Card. Player Requirements: 1. SCCA residents MUST show current SCCA White Activities ID Card at the sign-in table. Resident may bring guests, but the guest must sign-in at the same time the resident does. 2. Everyone brings a $10 gift card with its receipt attached (tape it to card.) and places it in the "Prize Pot" at the sign-in table (gift cards may be for restaurants, fast food, retail stores, etc.). 3. Everyone brings their own drink and snack to share with others (store-bought items are okay - no alcohol). Please take your snack's leftovers home with you. This month, our game will be on Wed., Feb. 26 at 1 pm in Civic Hall. Reserve your seat now so we know how many tables to set up. RSVP by calling Mary Jane (760- 310-5956) or Nancy (714-895-5001). Also, as a courtesy to other players, please call back if you need to cancel so we can fill your spot. Doors open at 12:40 pm for sign-ins and gift card collection. Players set up their snack on the counter and find a table and chair. Players must be signed in and ready to play before 1 pm. Doors close, and no additional sign-ins after 1 pm. Game rules are reviewed and games begin. Come with a friend and make more friends while you enjoy an afternoon of laughter and unpredictable game play with the Bunco Fun Bunch.
