Helping Hands Resident Volunteers are James Baker (256) 508-7217; Dolores Hofmann (707) 339-0508; Stan Katz (760) 505-8298, Steve Malone (760) 505-7297; Tom Mazur (760) 295-1006 and Tim Wilbur (951) 217-0034. Helping Hands Group The Genealogy Interest Group is a growing group of individuals who want to find out about their heritage and their ancestry. Curiosity about those who came before and formed us is important. The group provides tools to do your research and help in getting started. For the experience we can offer suggestions to break through the brick walls of past generations. Meeting with others looking in the same geographical areas is a great help. We have a few Apple computers and PCs in the computer room. It is helpful if you want to bring your own laptop. We will meet for a Help Session on Thurs., Feb. 20. Newcomers are welcome. All sessions can be seen on the TAG calendar. We are happy to offer the World Explorer version of Ancestry.com free of charge in the computer room. This program would cost an individual over $100 a month. We also offer the Family Tree Maker on several of the computers in the lab. A family tree can be started and compiled with either or both of these programs with many hints to assist in your research. The coordinators are Dorothy Miller, Shirley Rock and Peggy Singh. Contact us at rootsatOHCC@gmail.com. Written by Peggy Singh Genealogy Interest Group It's been quite busy at Grandma's Closet! Please plan ahead as much as possible, since many items in our inventory are very popular. We recommend securing reservations as soon as you receive your guests' itineraries to avoid being caught short-handed, especially when it comes to our precious little ones. If you need items for babies or young children, Grandma's Closet may have just what you need! We maintain a list of individuals who have items available for loan, including their contact information and the specific items they wish to share. When someone inquiries about borrowing, we will provide this list so that the donor and recipient can arrange the details. These loans are intended for our residents' visiting grandchildren. Borrowed items (excluding car seats and booster seats) are not to be taken out of the village or used by anyone other than the borrower. If you have items to loan out - such as strollers, car seats, carriers, Pack'n'Plays, high chairs, books, toys, games, or puzzles -- please email Naomi at NaomiBKatz@iCloud.com and/or Rich at redcisc@ gmail.com. Be sure to include the items, their age-appropriateness, and your name, address, phone number, and email address for inclusion on the list. Should you find yourself in need of an item or two, please reach out to Rich or Naomi, and we will send you the list. Additionally, if your visiting grandchildren have left behind items, you won't need them for a while, consider offering them for loan at Grandma's Closet. If you have clothing or furniture for babies or children that you can't store or use, please let us know. We would be happy to pick up the items and deliver them to Father Joe's Village, which is always needed. Thank you for your attention and anticipated assistance. Your continued generosity and support are truly appreciated. ~ Naomi B Katz, naomibkatz@icloud.com, (954) 243-4291 Grandma's Closet
