| OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2025 | 31 With the new year came some changes to Bingo. In 2024 you, the players, voted to start Bingo at 6:45 pm instead of 7 pm. Did you remember? Did you see all the reminders about the time change? Do you like it, or is it too early to say? We also started having a theme each month. January was Polka Dot Day. Three winners were chosen for each receiving a prize for the best representation of the Polka Dot Theme. Watch for pictures coming soon. February can only mean Valentine's Day. Yes, our February Theme is Love, Hearts, Flowers, all things Valentines. Our two February sponsors are Zoraya De La Bastida, who is providing our ice cream and Barbara DuDeck who is providing the theme awards. Both ladies are very generous supporters of Bingo. Barbara and Zoraya are Real Estate agents who live and work in our community. Their support is greatly appreciated. The March theme is St. Patrick's Day. Think all things green, the luck of the Irish, and pots of gold. Today's quote, "The road to success is always under construction." ~ Lily Tomlin Bingo is on Sat., Feb. 15 and on Sat., March 15. Remember the first number called is at 6:45 pm. Don't be late. For more information, please visit our website https://ohccbingo.wixsite.com/ohcc-bingo. Written by Adele Siesel BINGO Introduction to Papercraing Club for newest members: The Newbies group is one of the five groups of the OHCC Paper Crafting. Club (PC Club) which has 60+ members. During the annual January Dues Day event, which occurs this new year on Jan. 11, an average of 10-20 interested people annually join as new members of the Club. These new members may have not regularly created greeting cards or other paper crafts for various occasions and recipients but are curious about the craft. These new members will comprise the 2025 Newbies group where three group leaders — Rhonda Anchales, past president of PC Club, Vicki Dibble and Irma Ojeda — share the basic to advanced skills needed for card making in a yearlong schedule of sessions. Each session is an environment of friendship, laughter and creativity, coordinated to the member's learned or natural ability, explains Rhonda. Examples of the Newbie sessions will include: • An introduction and get acquainted session with review of the year's schedule • Design guidelines for creating a greeting card • Information on different types of paper, adhesives, ink, paints and other media • How to use natural materials (like f lowers, leaves, feathers, sticks, sand, etc). in card creations • Demonstrations on how to use a die cutting machine and other paper crafting tools • Basic paper crafting techniques like how to dry and wet emboss stamps and sentiments After completion of the monthly sessions, the returning Newbies will either serve as mentors to the incoming class or move to other existing PC Club Groups which meet on Fridays. More fun continues as they apply newly acquired skills and learn other techniques in the art of card making. If you didn't sign-up for the Club on Do Dues Day and now are interested in joining the OHCC Paper Crafting Club, please notify Ellin Whitson, club membership director, at barryellin@yahoo.com by Tuesday, Febuary 7th to join the 2025 Newbie class. According to Rhonda, newbies are a joy to work with — their enthusiasm and contagious energy serves as an inspiration to all the group leaders and to the entire Club. "We are more than just paper and scissors." ~ Lolo Kleeman, Communications Director Papercrafting Club Techniques used in Newbies class include blowing bubbles background, circles design and oral challenge Feather and cut ower design. Beer can art using labels in card design.
