FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | FEBRUARY 2025 55 Quilting Enthusiasts The Quilting Enthusiasts want to wish one and all a very Happy New Year. The year 2025 is here! Remember back in 1969 a song called, "In the year 2525, if man is still alive, if woman can survive, they may find…" written by Zager and Evans? Well here we are, 2025. The quilting group is in the process of planning several hands-on classes, and a trip to "Road 2 California." February will find us doing a road trip to Hoffman California Fabrics to see how they design, print fabric, Batik (hand dyed fabric from Bali) onto bolts, and history about Hoffman Fabrics. Here is a little history from their website, https://hoffmancaliforniafabrics.net. "Hoffman fabrics was founded in 1924 by Rube Hoffman, a New York textile jobber. Hoffman California Fabrics designs and manufactures premium screen-printed and hand-dyed fabrics for independent retailers focused on the quilting and home-sewing markets, and for other manufacturers and entrepreneurs. Our wonderfully imaginative fabrics originate with a team of in-house textile artists. Many designs are developed from hand-drawn and hand-painted art. In addition, we champion fiber artists worldwide via the annual Hoffman Challenge competition for quilters and sewists." We gathered at the Bistro for a nice Christmas get together. One of our members, Karen Reed, showed us this adorable quilt that she made for her husband as part of his Christmas present. Her husband is an avid reader and this "book shelf " fabric was PERFECT! The amazing part of this quilt is she took a picture of their cat, put it on fabric, then appliqued (attached) the image to the quilt. The second picture shows a closeup of the "book cat." She took a picture of the stack of books he has or had read, had it put onto fabric, and appliqued the image on to the border of the quilt, making this a true keepsake. Be sure to watch in the March edition of the Breeze for pictures of our tour. There are many more projects and events coming this year. If you are interested in learning about making quilts, t-shirt quilts, English paper piecing, hand or machine applique, please contact us at 4seasonquilters@gmail.com, or marymoodycox@gmail.com. Peace through Quilting. ~ Mary M. Moody-Cox, (808) 430-7469 Crafty Cardmakers The Crafty Cardmakers meet on the second Friday of each month at 1 pm in The Lodge Arts & Crafts Room. If you are not able to attend but want to make the cards, I can make card kits for you to assemble at home at your leisure.
