Pittsburgh, replaced the sooty and smoggy scenes of the past. Standing
from across the original home of Abraham Lincoln along with a picture
taken after his funeral; the house decorated with garlands and throngs of
people surrounding it, made Springfield, Illinois, our favorite state capital.
Videos can't compare to driving across the many engineering marvels
of spectacular bridges and feeling the wind in my fingers. Our favorites
were the Florida's Seven Mile Bridge, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel
(17.6 miles), and the John A. Roebling Bridge in Cincinnati spanning
over the Ohio River to Covington, Kentucky, once the longest suspension
bridge in the world until Roebling designed the Brooklyn Bridge.
My father enjoys looking at the pictures of our road trips and is happy
to see that I have surpassed his expectations when it comes to scratching
that itch.
