| LIFE IN SOLERA | FEBRUARY 2025 | 37 GOLF CLUB On Dec. 31, New Years Eve, we held our final round from 2024. 21 golfers were there for a cool shotgun start at 8 am. Oak Valley Golf Course is in fine shape with sand in the traps and short grass in the fairways. The format was four-clubs only low gross and low net games. A bit challenging for some of us, but Dave Scott sizzled for the A flight Low Gross score of 77. This included an even par back nine of 36. Ed Young took the honors in the B flight gross scoring while John Dockery (A) and Marty Anderson (B) took net wins. Closest to the pin honors went to Bob Umeck, Jesse Marin, Dave Duncanson, and Tony Smith, just 1' 11" away. Our first round of 2025 started with a cold wind blowing at Oak Valley Golf Course. Six foursomes teed off for a best three of four scores for the team. The group of Stan Whitesel, Jesse Mendez, Merle Chapman and Glenn Bradd took first place honors with a net -13 score. Closest to the pins went to Jesse Mendez, Armand Silva, Rod Fry, and John Dockery. Rod's shot was just 1' 2" away. We are always looking for new players to join us in the new year. Solera residents, both men and women are eligible to join the club. Players range from low handicappers to those of us who get our money's worth by the stroke. Just $10/week gets you into the game and prizes are awarded for low scores, fewest putts, and closest to the pin shots. Our group Yoga class started last month. ere's a waiver form you need to ll out and bring to attend the class along with a yoga mat and any yoga props you might have. e direction of the class is based on the overall ability of the group. We'll discuss topics of interest to you. Would you like to focus on strengthening your body through Asana (yoga poses) practice? Work to quiet your mind through mindfulness and meditation? Read and discuss an inspirational book? Are you interested in Chakra balancing and Restorative yoga? Healthy lifestyle for wellness and longevity? Let me know if there are other topics that interest you. e class will be broken down to a 10-15 minute learning and discussion session, 30-40 minutes of asana practice and 10-15 minutes of Savasana/relaxation. e class starts with breathing techniques, chair yoga practice, progressing to standing poses, and oor asanas as available to you and savasana.
