| LIFE IN SOLERA | FEBRUARY 2025 | 5 Here we are in February 2025 already and the Finance Committee along with the General Manager and Keystone will be gathering information for our budget beginning June 1, 2025 – May 31, 2026. Our vendors will be contacted to inquire about any proposed increase in their annual contract. We will be assessing the budget line-items to determine reasons for under/over budget for the current year. We will use February's monthly budget and calculate the next three months expenditures. This will help us determine what an estimate of where we will be in relationship to our current budget. The information we receive from vendors and calculated estimates will give us a good understanding of how our money was spent and how much we will need to cover our expenses for the next year. We will also look at our Reserve items to determine which ones will need to be replaced or repaired during the next year. Determining these items and future repair and replacement needs such as: streets, landscaping, etc. will assist in understanding a long-term plan to accomplish these needs. The last item of the budget is for Capital Improvement items, such as new recreational items on the Greenbelt along Brentwood or in other areas not restricted by SCE. There are other items suggested by members during the past couple of years that could be revisited. An important item to be reminded of is the ballot which will be sent during the next month or so regarding the YES vote for approving our revised CC&Rs and Bylaws. Should we not receive the number of YES votes to approve, it will cost us thousands of dollars to have these governing documents presented to the State Supreme Court by our attorney to get them approved. This cost would most likely need to be added to the upcoming year's budget. Please get informed, read the information, and vote YES. We do not want to waste our money on something we can avoid just by a YES vote. ~ Marcia Casem Finance Committee Attention new residents! We started providing a wonderful booklet of coupons for local businesses starting with our October 2024 new resident gathering and we've been including the coupon booklets in our welcome bags. If you moved here within the last six months and didn't receive one yet, let me know and I'll be happy to get you one. Although it's still about six months away, we are excited about the enhancements being planned for new resident breakfast gathering scheduled for Sat., Aug. 23 at 10am. Some of the highlights will include: 1) Solera groups and clubs introductions—every participating group leader will provide a quick summary of their activities, then new residents can meet with the group representatives individually to sign up or get more info. 2) A question-answer session for anything Solera. 3) Breakfast breads/muffins and beverages served. 4) Door prizes/raff le or other free items. So, be sure to mark your calendars. All new residents will receive personal invitations to the event about one to two months prior to the event.
