| THE COLONY NEWS | FEBRUARY 2025 | 27 One Saturday morning while going to garage sales, I came upon one that broke my heart to see what I saw: a family's memories for sale (pictured). How do you plan to pass on your memories? If you haven't made other arrangements, have you considered an entry in your will or trust that will provide for them? Or perhaps you've written or plan to write an autobiography? I wish that my parents and grandparents had done that. e Colony Cousins Genealogy Club welcomes you to our Tuesday, Feb. 11 meeting at 1pm in the Annex. We will be continuing our Beginning Genealogy series with Genealogist Mark Cross, who will be giving Part 2 of his lecture. To learn more about Mark and his work, visit http://storynder. us. He has had considerable experience, and he has received much praise for his expertise and lecture skills. Each of his lectures is 1.5 hours. In future months, he will be presenting others of these. If you have any specic topics that you would like to hear, please contact Greg Gries at mosesscrolls@gmail.com or 951-383-9988. All Colony residents are welcome to join us. Please stop by if you are curious, serious, or anywhere in between. Our meeting will start promptly at 1 pm, so please plan to sign in at 12:45. For questions, please contact Lennie Martin at (503) 269-9987 or lenniem07@yahoo.com. Genealogy By Greg Gries, 951-383-9988 inking about sprucing up your yard for spring? e Petal Pushers Garden Club is excited to have Brad Gore, President, Gore Planning, Inc., with us to share his landscape design tips at our meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 1 pm in the Annex. Brad has been designing and building beautiful landscapes in Southern California for nearly 20 years. In fact, he has done an extensive backyard design for one of our Colony neighbors. Although most of us have existing landscapes, join us and learn how you might be able to enhance yours. For more information about Gore Planning or their designs, check out his website at https://goreplanning.com/. Mark your calendars and reserve the day for the Petal Pushers Garden Tour on Saturday, April 26. If you are thinking about having your garden on the tour or have questions, please contact Gloria Brosky at goldenmom2nn@gmail.com or myself at janepayne3@verizon.net. Having the Garden Tour in April is perfect timing! e Petal Pusher presentations are open to all Colony residents. We would be delighted to have you join us for both upcoming events. Feel free to call me at the number above if you have questions. Petal Pushers Garden Club By Jane Payne, 909-455-2253 Our ping pong players are very passionate about the sport. For example, during the holiday season our Colony facilities became so busy with other things going on that ping pong got sidelined. Undeterred, a group of players took it upon themselves to nd two outside CONCRETE ping pong tables at a local park to keep their skills in check. Apparently, these tables don't get used much and strangers were coming up to them wanting to join in the fun. at is passion! Now that the holidays are over, we have returned to our regular schedule: Wednesday, Friday, Sunday from 1 to 4 pm in the Auditorium. All levels are welcome. Ping Pong By Lisa Schrader, 714-814-4543
