As of that date, our standings were: 1st Place: Strikes Happen 41-19 (Jim Wheeler, Beverly Patten, Ed Munroe, Jerry Hansen) 2nd Place: Gutter Busters 36.5-23.5 (Linda & Candi Pineiro, Angie & Steve Tiplitsky) 3rd Place: Pin Poppers 36-24 (Sheila Spradling, Dottie Hodson, Susie Pawlowski, Sue Ricardi). As this article will be in the February issue, by then we will have bowled for ve weeks, so the standings could change a lot. I would like to thank e Cove Bar & Grill for the delicious meal at our bowling dinner in December. It was awesome! ey also prepared our Jan. 16 dinner, serving us pan sautéed chicken breast, mashed potatoes, two salads, and mixed vegetables. I also want to publicly thank our League Secretary, Beverly Patten, and League Vice President, Jerry Hanson, for doing a great job last year. To anyone who used to bowl in our league but cannot play any longer, you are all welcome to come to our dinners. Just contact me 10 days prior to the third ursday of each month. I would like to start by giving a special shout out to Tom McClure for introducing pickleball to e Colony seven years ago. He taught us this new-fangled game with the insight that it was going to be huge, and boy was he right! I would further like to thank Kathy Lewis for her tireless eorts in teaching the game to anyone who wanted to learn. Any time of day, seven days a week, she was willing and still available. She also writes the monthly articles for me when I run out of things to say. A special thanks to the HOA Board for their support and to Ken and his crew for their daily help. ey're always blowing o the courts, setting up for our tournaments and repairing the courts as needed. anks to all the participants of our monthly tournaments, as well as those who so generously take the time to make a little something for the group to share. anks to all the players for the support I have received and for the kind words and texts that I, your Club president, get daily. Lastly, but most importantly, I would like to thank my wife for allowing me to play three hours every morning, seven days a week, without complaint. What a great start to 2025 we had, with 24 players for our tournament and ve alternates eager to ll in if someone didn't show. But no such luck for them; everyone scheduled came. We anticipate the year will continue with similar excitement. Here's to a new year that I am condent will bring us all a lot of joy and fun, so let's get out there and play pickleball! Our tennis and paddle courts are open every day, just stop by any morning to see all the fun that can be had while getting your exercise! Paddles are kept at the courts for you to use to try out either of these sports. So, lace up those tennis shoes and head down to the courts! e Ladies Racquet group held their monthly luncheon on Jan. 8, hosted by Rita Nastri. It was a lovely lunch with New Year's decorations on the tables. All women who play paddle, pickleball or ping pong are welcome to join us. Just bring a dish to share as it's a potluck. e luncheon in February will be on the 12th, at 11:30 am.
