Put on something red and visit the Lounge enjoy a Red Cocktail. It's also Groundhog Day. Everyone who saw the movie Groundhog Day knows that the "Mule Buck" (sweet vermouth on the rocks with a twist) was the weatherman's drink of choice. Feb. 9, Super Bowl Sunday, is always lots of fun. Come to the Sandwedge and root for your team. Feb. 14 is Valentine's Day and all I can say is WOW! Chef Joshua and Team have created a spectacular ultimate experience for this special day. Make your reservations early as this event sells out quickly. You'll want to try "Be My Valentine" special occasion cocktail. Valentine's Day is supposed to be a time of love. Couples worldwide show kindness and love to their partners through gifts, experiences, and special treatment. It's a joyful and exciting time for people in a new or long-committed relationship. Common legend states that St. Valentine of Terni, a bishop, defied the emperor's orders and secretly married couples to spare the husbands from war. It is for this reason that his feast day is associated with love. The name Valentine is derived from a Latin word meaning valor. Dolly Parton said, "Love is something sent from heaven to worry the hell out of you." Try any of the month's special cocktails "I'm Bananas Over You" or a "Love Spell" you won't be disappointed. Groundhog Day and Presidents' Day which is the only federal holiday this month also known as Washington's Birthday we don't have anything specific planned for these days, but you may. Come on down to any of our three venues and celebrate with friends and neighbors in your own way. Try George Washington's "Cherry Blossom Martini." As volunteers, being humble is recognizing that we are not on a committee to see how important we can become or how much we can inflate our own egos. It's about realizing we are here to utilize our business acumen and expertise to advise our Board of Directors to see how much of a positive difference we can try to make in the SLCC community and the lives of our members. To the ants, you're a giant; to the trees, you don't even exist. The life you think is ordinary might be someone else's ultimate dream. Stay humble and kind, stay grateful, and keep loving life. It's all just one big, beautiful game of perspective. We've received many compliments on the new Lounge; if you haven't visited, put it on your "to do" list, you won't be disappointed. As a final note, I would like you to keep in mind that none of our food is ever microwaved — everything is prepared fresh. Chef Joshua is very conscientious with where our foods are sourced from. Just ask and Chef will prepare gluten-free and celiac-conscience dishes. This is your Restaurant; every effort is being made to try and accommodate your needs. Whether you want just tea, coffee, or a cocktail, an afternoon snack or dessert, just ask. If it's in our kitchen, you may order it.
