| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | FEBRUARY 2025 | 51 Plant, Grow, Learn, Enjoy So, here we are, already well into the new year. In keeping with the newness of the year, the Garden Club is well into some new adventures. We're trying out a new format for our meetings, introducing 50/50 cash raff les every other month beginning with this month on Feb. 12, and also introducing a bi- annual plant and pottery sale this spring. While looking forward to all that is new, we're keeping our favorites. Bob the Baker is still making our break-time treats, and at our January meeting, Raphael from Cherry Valley Nursery was back to offer insight into pruning and caring for roses. Of course, Cherry Valley Nursery is still providing us with f lowers for our door prize drawings. Did you know, Cherry Valley Nursery has an email newsletter with news about what's going on at the nursery? Last month they offered free classes on the pruning of citrus trees, and lots of timely gardening information. You can sign up to receive their newsletter on their website www.cherryvalleynursery.com. Janis Rice, another favorite, will be back this month. You may remember the wonderful Monarch Butterf ly Project she instigated for our members and the presentation she did on the project results. She has recently visited an Alaskan rain forest and has promised to share with us what she learned from the experience. Last but not least, Pat Pennington will be with us to provide an update on this year's plant sale project. Guests are always welcome to attend one of our meetings which are on the second Wednesday of every month at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom (unless otherwise announced). Our President, Beverly Agner, at (951) 306-7379 is always ready to answer your questions, but if you have membership questions, call one of our membership Co-Chairs, Sherry Case at (951) 533-3584 or Linda Powers at (951) 769-3101. Pat Pennington at (951) 314-9229 is always willing to answer questions about your vegetable garden. Need your citrus tree harvested? Contact Joy Bailey at (951) 845- 5540. Garden Club
