12 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2025 | Did you know that the average age of Sun Lakes residents is 74 years? Sun Lakes conducts an age verification study every two years to confirm the community's 55+ status. The last age verification was in 2024 with the result of 74 years. In 2020 the average age was 74.5 and in 2022, it was 74.2. Wow, we've been growing younger in the past 4 years! Is Sun Lakes the long- lost Fountain of Youth? an age verification study every two years to confirm the community's 55+ status. The last age verification was in 2024 with the result of 74 years. In 2020 the average age was 74.5 and in 2022, it was 74.2. Wow, we've been growing younger in the past 4 years! Is Sun Lakes the long- lost Fountain of Youth? By Beverly Simmons, Master Board 2nd Vice-President DID YOU KNOW??? Did you know along with voting for the three open Board positions this election, you will also be voting on two important issues? The first is the IRS ruling, which is on the ballot every year but often misunderstood. A "yes" vote on this allows the HOA to file as either a corporation or an HOA, whichever is most beneficial to the association. This is important because if there is an excess of revenue over expenses at the end of the year, filing as an HOA allows the Board to apply that excess back to the community. The second important topic is the Bylaw/CCR change regarding delegate voting. This was explained in the February article of Did You Know. If passed, this change will take effect in 2026 and will ensure that: • All votes in every district are counted and cast in the same percentage as votes received, even if a district doesn't have a delegate or alternate delegate. If this is the case, the votes for the district are cast by the Delegate Chair. • The votes must be cast by the delegate or alternate or Delegate Chair in the same percentage as the residents voted, even if that district did not meet quorum. EPAP ANIMAL RESCUE GROUP Our next meeting is March 17 at 10 am in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Our guest speaker will be Leslie Triplett from Pond Digger Wildlife Rehabilitation Foundation. I hope everybody can make it. It'll be a very interesting meeting. Reminder! It's still coyote-mating season. Please don't leave your pets unattended. Also, if you lose a pet or find a pet, always call the Main Gate and report it. We meet at 10 am in the Multipurpose Room on the third Monday of the following five months each year: September, November, January, March, and May. We strive to bring interesting and informative guest speakers to our meetings to help you keep your animals safe and healthy. For more information or to volunteer, contact Sandy Burgon at (909) 855-0226.
