| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2025 | 13 We live in a world where communication is divided by technology. 1980 brought the personal computing revolution, fracturing the place the printed page had held since the advent of the Gutenberg press in 1455. Businesses and schools progressively adopted computing as their primary means of reaching people. By the turn of the millennium, computers were common place. If you didn't embrace the new technology, you couldn't be competitive. Only 10 years later the smart phone began nibbling at their dominance. This is not a revelation for anyone at Sun Lakes as we've all lived through the transition. Some of us became more adept with new technologies than others, but the divide between the analog and digital worlds still exists. By the time Boomers have completed their journeys through life, printed communication will be even less relevant. While Sun Lakes has embraced some tech, it's a rapidly changing field. Our current website needs a makeover. New residents, accustomed to using commercial technologies, expect the same efficiencies from our HOA. Anyone using the site is frustrated by outdated and inaccurate content. Broken hyperlinks lead to non- existent pages. The search feature embedded in most websites is missing. Page layouts require endless scrolling. It lacks pertinent information. SunLakesCC.com definitely has issues. How does it get fixed? The Delegate Assembly could pass a simple motion stating, "We recommend the Master Board improve the SunLakesCC.com." Such a motion would probably pass but there's a huge degree of variables hiding in the word 'improve'. With their arrival, CCL (Compass Community Living) Hospitality will introduce a new software package. Our current website could well be transitioned to a new, better functioning platform but at this point no one knows. Regardless of how well a website is designed it will continue to frustrate if it lacks the content users expect to find. No one at Sun Lakes has the job of obtaining the web content that only residents can provide. We, the community, need to continually send Administration the information we want posted to the site. If you're involved in a club, group or committee of any kind, please go to SunLakesCC.com and check out your listings. Update, add content or links to make your information as complete as possible. Forward the content you want to amend to Hernan Rojas at Hernan. Rojas@FSResidential.com. It's our website so let's make it the best it can be. ~ Cal Martin From the Delegate Assembly
