| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | MARCH 2025 | 51 Plant, Grow, Learn, Enjoy In February, Anna of the Banning Senior Center was here to accept our $500 donation to support their Children's Christmas event and gave a brief recap of the happening. As promised, Janis Rice's presentation was filled with a wonderful account of her experience in the Alaskan rain forest. Pat Pennington gave us an update on the progress of our first biannual plant sale which will take place at each of the district yard sales in May. He and others have foster-cared for over 50 tomato plants of four varieties that will be well on their way to producing fruit by May. Various squashes, dragon fruit plants, herbs, succulents, and even pottery for patio gardens, will also be ready to sell. Look for dates and locations in April and May's Lifestyles Magazine, Facebook, Good Day Sun Lakes, and the Garden Club page of Sun Lake's website. Looking forward to this month's meeting, Woody Catalano will be back with 'everything we ever wanted to know' about the wild life in Sun Lakes — that is to say the animal wildlife. We haven't had the opportunity to hear from him since January of 2022. His information and photos had us asking for more, so he's coming back this month. If this is March, See's Candies sales must be getting close. As of this writing, dates for the Easter sales have yet to be determined but information will soon be posted in the Main Clubhouse Lobby. Need your citrus tree harvested? Contact Joy Bailey at (951) 845-5540. Joy and her volunteers will harvest your fruit and take the produce to the Banning H.E.L.P. and Senior Center. Joy said that last month they harvested six to eight grocery bags full of lemons and divided them among the two centers. PLEASE BE AWARE: If you are thinking about becoming a Garden Club member, or if you have yet to renew your membership, you'll want to do so this month because the membership fee of $15 will be $20 as of April 1, 2025. At $20 it's a remarkable bargain. There is much to enjoy as a member of the Garden Club. If you have questions, call one of our membership Co-Chairs Sherry Case at (951) 533-3584 or Linda Powers at (562) 400-0541. Garden Club
