GOLF CLUB
The year 2025 is off to a good, if cold start with full fields of golfers
braving the conditions and posting some good scores. More details
on that later.
Some great golf is coming to our area with the IOA Championship
for women April 25-27 at Tukwet Golf Course. This is a great
opportunity to watch the young women who are on the road to the
LPGA. It's also a chance for Solera Golf Club members to volunteer at
this event. There are many opportunities for service with the added
bonus of a free round of golf after the event. Contact the tour at www.
ioachampionship.com for details.
The club has a group page on Facebook. Tony Smith and friends
provided this link for pictures and communication. Submissions to
this page are welcome.
January was a cold month for golf. Did I mention this before?
Some mornings included ice on the course where the sprinklers had
run. Winners on Jan. 14 in a low gross two-man game were Mike
Davis and Bob Umeck for A flight while B flight gross winners were
Jesse Mendez and Armand Silva. Low net winners in A flight were
Tony Smith and Marty Anderson.
It was very windy on Jan. 21 for our two-man best ball event. John
Dockery and Ed Young won this event with a net 67. Jan. 28 was the
coldest day on the course with ice and wind. This was a skins game
with Stu Osborne collecting three skins and two Closest to the Pin
honors. He birdied each hole.
Feb. 4 was a great day for golf with beautiful sunshine and warmer
temperatures. This four-man team came in with the three best
scores. The team of Salvadore, Maciel, Dockery, and Young blitzed
the course with a -17 to par.
