| THE COLONY NEWS | MARCH 2025 | 31 e artist for March is none other than myself. I started painting in the '90s as a self-taught oil painter. My paintings were of the Old Masters style and impressionistic. I have lived in e Colony for almost 11 years and joined Taka Ritchie's Watercolor class my rst year here. I have taken watercolor instruction from both Taka, a Master Painter, and Betty Pilley, a Master Painter at the Hemet Art Gallery. My current subjects consist of owers, landscape, birds, sh, insects, portraits, still life, abstract and animals. I am currently taking advanced watercolor classes at the Hemet Art Gallery with award-winning artist and instructor, Betty Pilley. I also teach our Colony Watercolor class, and I continue to develop my teaching skills with the help of Taka Ritchie. I am a past executive board member of GEM of the Valley Art Association. Currently, I belong to the Hemet Art Association and have won numerous awards at both associations. I continue to place paintings in the Hemet Art Gallery for judging and have been their featured artist as well. I hope you enjoy my paintings as much as I enjoy sharing them with you. For our Watercolor class in January, we painted a snow scene with birch trees. Everyone had a great time and produced some beautiful paintings. Our class is growing, with new people coming and some longtime members returning. Class members range from beginners to our favorite master painter, Taka Ritchie. Our class project on Feb. 27 was a oral, and we hope you were able to join us. We meet in the Annex from 9 am to 12:30 pm on the last ursday of each month. We all have a lot of fun. Happy painting!
