In California, March is a time when winemakers bottle wine, release new wines, and grapevines begin to bud. Sometimes this "budding" is called "bud break." Bud break is when dormant (or hibernating) buds on a vine break open and new leaves, owers, or fruit emerge. It's the start of the vine's growing season in the spring. It's been said that "e life cycle of wine, from grape to glass, is akin to the journey of life itself; full of growth, change, and eventual fulllment" (Anonymous).
