Colony Players šeater e Colony Cousins Genealogy Club welcomes you to our Tuesday, March 11 meeting at 1 pm in the Annex. To highlight this month's topic of our meeting, Lennie Martin will present, "Writing Family Stories." We all have stories about our families. Maybe we heard them from parents, aunts, uncles, or grandparents. Maybe they are experiences we had ourselves. Stories can be based on letters, diaries, notes in Bibles or other books, photos or many types of memorabilia. Family stories will be lost over the years if no one writes them down. Part of our responsibility as family genealogists or historians is to preserve these stories for future generations. It's never too late to start! Keeping records of family stories can take many approaches, everything from actual books to hand-written notes. Or, for the technologically inclined, verbal recordings or videos. Whatever approach works, just do it. To prepare for the meeting, you're asked to choose something you can write a family story about. If you've written a book, bring it and read a story from it (please limit it to four to ve minutes reading time). Or select a family heirloom, photo, letter, or other memorabilia to write a story about and read to our group. ere will be a sign-up sheet, and people will read/talk in the order they sign up. We look forward to your stories! Everyone is welcome to join us, so please stop by if you are curious, serious or anywhere in between. Our meeting will start promptly at 1 pm, so please plan to sign in at 12:45 pm. For info, please contact Lennie Martin at (503) 269-9987 or lenniem07@ yahoo.com.
