| THE COLONY NEWS | MARCH 2025 | 37 Photos by Valorie Hillerich By Valorie Hillerich Have you ever said to yourself, "I have nothing to wear." Who hasn't? Back in January, the Colony Social Committee, under the leadership of chairperson eresa Hagerty, introduced us to a new Colony event that allowed us to nd just the perfect items to address that! Inspired by her daughter Lindsay, eresa Hagerty rst presented the idea of a clothes swap to the Social Committee. And aer a lot of discussions, planning and organizing, the event was nalized and introduced to e Colony. Ladies were encouraged to scour their closets for any items they wanted to pass on to a new owner. ey were invited to come down to e Colony Auditorium on Jan. 25, from 10 am to 1 pm, to donate their goodies. By 1 pm, thanks to the generosity of our residents, clothes racks were full, tables were overowing, and everyone was ready to go! Sunday was THE day to swap swap swap til you drop drop drop! In the words of Ariana Grande, "I see it. I like it. I want it. I got it." If shopping is your "Love Language," then this was the day for you! Chair of the event eresa Hagerty estimates that almost 100 ladies brought in items on Saturday and attended the Clothes Swap on Sunday. ings were buzzing Sunday from 1 to 4 pm while attendees revamped their style with the perfect sweater, a fancy sequined top, workout gear for the gym, linen pants and a jacket for a night out, jewelry to add to their collection, shoes to complete an outt, a beautiful Brighton bag, and oh the list goes on! Out with your old, in with your new! And NO money was exchanged! If that wasn't enough, participants enjoyed wine and nibbles (sponsored by Care Patrol), music, a photo booth, and socialized with friends while nding their nds! What happens with the leover clothing and accessories, you ask? At the end of the event, the Social Committee collected all the leover items and donated them to Project T.O.U.C.H. (projecttouchonline.com), which supports those in need from the devastating Los Angeles res. What a fabulous gi of support! And those ladies that did not have any clothing to donate were still welcome. Michelle's Place was stationed at the event and accepted over $300 in monetary donations. It was a win-win for everyone. In the words of our resident and Clothes Swap participant, Willa Gardea, "ank you, eresa and helpers, for a huge event that allowed not only practical exchanges but fellowship with others. You did a fabulous job of organizing. Hope we have this event again next year!" Colony Clothes Swap
