TROUPE. What exactly does the
word mean? According to Dictionary.
com, a troupe is a group of dancers,
actors or any other entertainer who
tour to dierent venues. As for the
Ocean Hills Dance Troupe? Ocean Hills
is the home base for our dancers and
here is some general information…
Our dance troupe is a troupe that practices for a dance show,
(our next show will be March/April 2026), and there needs
to be a COMMITMENT by our members. is commitment
includes paying for class. It also includes a commitment to pay
for costumes, accessories, and shoes which can be quite costly.
A dancer can be in as many as eight dances. However, you can
choose not to be in all the dances.
If you join aer a dance is complete, you may not be able to be
in that dance. You must join the OHCC Dance Troupe club before
you can begin classes. Membership is $10 year.
Tap and Jazz Classes are held on ursdays. We also have
practices on Monday (tap) and Tuesday (jazz). We bring in a
professional teacher/choreographer, Yvonne Romano, for tap and
jazz classes. Payments are made out directly to her. If you are
taking just one class, tap or jazz, it is $50 for the month. If you are
taking both tap and jazz, it's $80 for the month. You must pay for
the entire month to be able to attend classes.
We also have practices for our other dance classes. Belly is
taught by a resident so there is no charge. Classes are held on
Saturday mornings. ey usually do two numbers in the show.
Hawaiian and Ballet are taught by osite teachers. Hawaiian
usually does two show numbers; however, ballet has not yet been
in the show. Hawaiian is held on Saturday mornings. Ballet is on
Monday mornings.
You are welcome to pop into any of these classes to observe
before you make any decision. Please feel free to contact Karla
Sando, Dance Troupe President, at (760) 828-5811 for any
questions you may have. Written by Gloria Lipitz
