Walkers & Hikers Club
We ushered in February with a Santa Fe Valley Trail hike on
Feb. 1. On Feb. 7, despite heavy rain the day and evening before,
20 determined OHCC Walkers and Hikers went to Encinitas
Beach, where the walkers, led by Mark Johnson, were rewarded
with dry weather. Lunch followed at Leucadia Pizza. Valentine's
Day started the day with a hike to Old Coach to Raptor Ridge, led
by Kevin Sorenson. e remainder of February saw hikes in Del
Dios Highlands Preserve, led by June Chang, and our close by
walk at Buena Vista Park.
March promises to bring great walks and hikes, including
Lusardi Creek Short Trail in Rancho Santa Fe on March 7,
Guajome Park Trail on March 14, and Hosp Grove on March 20
just to name a few.
We are an active club, and we want to remain that way. But we
need your help. How you ask? We need leaders for the walks and
hikes! We welcome guest leaders! If you know of a great walk or
hike that you would like to lead, please let us know. Please reach
out to the group and let us know the hike or walk you would like
to lead, and it will be scheduled. e dierence between what's
considered a walk, and a hike is not just elevation. Our walks are
usually three miles or less, but if they are over three miles, the
walks are out and back, so you can go as long as you want and
turn around at any point. Hope to see you on the trails! Written
