| OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2025 | 41 Racquet Club It does take a village. Not only to raise a child, but also to run a tournament! We'd like to give a big shout out to our many volunteers who spend many hours helping organize, set up, and run one of our three annual pickleball tournaments. First this year will be the Women's Tournament on Sat., March 29. Harvey Bernstein and Van Rhonheimer will oversee a cadre of worker bees who will ensure the competition goes o without a hitch, while Laura Urban and Karen Burke are responsible for the post-tournament social. And speaking of volunteers, the Club's Sign-up Genius online tool roll out began in January and is o to a strong start, providing members with multiple opportunities to connect with friends and get involved. e Women's Tournament saw an overwhelming response, with volunteer spots lling up within a few days. anks to this enthusiastic participation, we're set for another fantastic event for both players and spectators! e Racquet Club kicked o the 2025 season with another new event… MEET e Racquet Club. e Lanai was the host for this "trade show" format event, allowing members and guests to learn all things Racquet Club. Individual booths were manned by board members and covered some of the many Club happenings like our Tournaments, the Skedda reservation system, the new Sign- up Genius tool, o-court socials, 2025 pickleball rule changes and a special booth set up to meet several of our professional instructors. Of course, snacks and beverages made this new event even more fun. e Racquet Club's eorts to get a debrillator installed at the Pavilion courts' patio nally came to fruition in late January. Several months earlier another of these life-saving AED devices was installed near the water fountain serving tennis courts 8 - 9, the dog park, Inspiration Hill, and the overow parking lot. All residents should familiarize themselves with the location of AEDs throughout the community and how to use them. Make sure to mark your calendar for our April 10 General Meeting at the Lanai – 4 pm social, 4:30to 5:30 pm meeting. Small group beginner pickleball classes are available monthly at no charge to all residents. Novice classes for club members are also available at no charge. Fee-based classes (members only) are scheduled quarterly. Check the website, bulletin boards, or contact the Help Desk for more information.
