About Funk Music: e captivating groove of funk music has a magnetic pull, urging listeners to hit the dance oor, with its origins deeply rooted in Black R&B, soul, and jazz scenes of the mid-1960s. Visionaries like James Brown blazed a trail that inuenced the birth of disco, hip hop, and even funk metal. e legendary Chaka Khan, hailed as the "Queen of Funk," soared to stardom with her band Rufus, while icons such as Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, and Kool and the Gang incorporated funky elements into their music. Funk music enjoyed its heyday during the '70s and '80s, leaving an indelible mark on the music landscape. RedShi Musicworks, a quartet band drawing inspiration from funk, marks its eighth year of craing and performing original music in Southern California within the Avant Funk/Jazz/World Music realm. Our dinner meeting provides a special social interaction and helps to rekindle old and new friendships. e WIT Team gathers once a month in the Bistro for dinner. Our dinner orders are "called in" to the Bistro between 2 to 4 pm. When we gather at 5 pm, our orders are already being prepared and are ready to deliver to each attendee. We are a support group. In the February issue of the Herald, e Piano Club announced the sponsorship of a variety show on April 5, 2025. e "Great Power Outages of January 2025" caused the group to lose a month's rehearsal time. As we always strive to present the best program possible, we have rescheduled the program to April 18, 2026. But don't despair, the Piano Club's fourth concert is scheduled for November 2025.
