| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2025 | 11 SOME OPTIONS IN CASE OF A POWER OUTAGE On Feb. 13, EPAP 101 – Need to Know Workshop shared information on Evacuation and Power Interruptions or Outages. One of the most asked questions was "what is the best alternate power sources to use during a power outage?" You would suppose the answer would be a generator and this makes sense. They can be purchased at local hardware stores and seem to be the right choice … right? But most gas-powered generators are large, hard to store and move, noisy, sometimes hard to start, and most generators run on gas, which means you must store gas as well because during a power outage you may not be able to pump gas at a gas station. In lieu of gas-run generators, there are many options. Some are large and some small, some cost a lot, and others are less expensive. But what is most important; is it the right one for you? Is it going to take care of your needs during a power outage? Here are some options we found by just searching on the internet. Prices vary from site to site, store to store. Some have more watts, and some can power more devices. All of them can keep cellphones, small lights and radios powered. But remember whatever you choose is a better alternative to no lights, phone service and/or your life-saving medical equipment. Sun Lakes EPAP and/or Administration don't endorse any of the following products. They are just suggestions.
