| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2025 | 57 Table Tennis/Ping Pong Our regular play times are Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 to 6 pm, Fridays from 1 to 3 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am to 12 pm. Because of scheduling conf licts for the Main Clubhouse Ballroom, we sometimes get bumped into "special play times," that are updated on the SLCC website, and printed copies are available on play days in the Ballroom. There is also a touch-screen monitor in the Main Clubhouse Lobby where the schedule can be brought up. If there are any questions or concerns, contact Gary Lile at (805) 722-7427, 4lile@yahoo.com, or leave a message with John Williams at (951) 489-9737, jgwms.williams@gmail.com. All comers are welcome, the only requirements are laced tennis shoes, and a desire to have fun, play with friends, and get some excellent health benefits from a low-risk activity. This month the spotlight lands on Keith Smith (pictured), our popular guest from Solera. Anytime someone around here shows up with photos of medals they've won playing Table Tennis at some sanctioned event, we post it to Lifestyles to motivate people to join our group. Keith and wife Laverne took a recent Bahamian cruise and amidst all the incredible fun, entertainment, and hoopla, Keith nailed his first medal ever. Does this look like fun? It also means our skills are getting better; so personal satisfaction goes up while most of all, a legacy develops that lasts after we are gone, when we share and instruct by our actions, a love of sport. That love can show an earnest grandchild the value of pursuing a difficult but fun personal challenge. Medals aren't your cup of tea? Not into the thrills of winning or the agony of defeat? Then forget about it; come out for the fun. Chat GPT-40 lists 10 main purposes and benefits of having fun: 1. Stress relief; 2. Improved mental health; 3. Enhanced creativity; 4. Stronger relationships; 5. Boosted energy levels; 6. Increased emotional resilience; 7. Self-improvement and learning; 8. Increased longevity; 9. Mindfulness (being present in the moment and enjoying life without distractions); 10. Improved Immune function. Come on down to the Ballroom and indulge in some old-fashioned healthy fun; we'd love to have you no matter the skill level. We do observe all the rules of sportsmanship. We have room and plenty of tables and a robot to accommodate newcomers. Play singles or doubles (team building and camaraderie live here).
