Welcome April. Here are some interesting facts: 1. The origin of April Fools' Day is a mystery, although there are several theories. 2. The " April showers bring May f lowers" dates back to 16th century England. 3. The first shots of the American Revolution started April 19, 1775, at Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts. These events have been called the "shot heard round the world." 4. The April birthstone is a diamond. April is our Annual Membership Meeting when we elect our Homeowner Directors. This year will be the first one by acclamation. Per Davis-Stirling (the primary body of law regulating how community associations operate), beginning Jan. 1, 2022, Associations can declare the outcome of uncontested elections without the need for balloting. This year, there are two candidates for the three positions open. The Director positions are each for a two-year term. The annual meeting will be held on Wed., April 23. We have transitioned from a "new" community to an "established" one. Let's "stay young" and maintain the excitement of a great new place to live. Seven years ago, April 2018, our good friend and former Board President Russ Brown wrote in his Board Message the following: "As our good friend and former Board President Hal Townend often reminded us, our Four Seasons community is a work in progress, and few things will always remain the same. Most certainly, change is inevitable (except perhaps from a vending machine). As such, we should embrace it, and ensure that what we seek is for the greater good and not merely change for the sake of change. Concerted effort has been put forth over the years by many good folks… your friends and neighbors. They have voluntarily endeavored to make our Four Seasons community the best it can be, and a place we are proud to call our home. Let's all commit to building on that wonderful foundation and continue this valuable tradition." These words apply today as they did in 2018. We are a great place to live because of our volunteer spirit, that is, the willingness of residents to donate their time and energy for the benefit of other people in our community as a social responsibility, rather than for any financial reward. It takes a lot of work by our 10 committees. Our committees address specific community issues and tasks while serving in an advisory role for the benefit of all of us. They gather information, assess problems, and recommend solutions to the Board. It is important that we continue this tradition of volunteering. Why Volunteer? 1. Brings people together--uniting people from diverse backgrounds to work towards a common goal. 2. Strengthens our community. 3. You learn a lot - learn about the functions and operations of our HOA. 4. You get a chance to give back. 5. You make a difference — each person counts.
