32 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2025 | Strength training is incredibly beneficial for women over 60. It helps maintain muscle mass, bone density, balance, and overall well- being. Here's what you need to know: Can a Woman Build Muscle Aer 60? Absolutely! While age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia) is real, it's not irreversible. Strength training can help you gain muscle mass even in your golden years. The right combination of strength training and holistic health can make a significant difference. Why Strength Training is Important for Older Adults: Maintain Bone Density: Women are susceptible to bone loss after age 30. Strength training exposes your bones to mechanical load, helping maintain or increase bone mass and density. SASY is strength training only with 15 exercises for arms, legs and torso. The class is free. We meet in The Lodge Ballroom at 8:30 am every Tuesday and Thursday. We are a fun social group. If you have questions regarding this class, please call Jeanne Lincoln at (951) 765-7112 or Char Weakley at (951) 926-2599. It boosts our mood and reduces stress and anxiety. Dancing to all kinds of music brings joy and positivity into everyday life. It provides a chance to meet new people and fosters a sense of community. Everyone one is welcome. You don't need any dance experience. We meet in the ballroom on Tuesdays and these lessons are free. We start at 2 pm with very basic dances. If you don't know the steps we will help you to learn them. There are often more advanced dancers in the class who you can watch and learn from. Nobody minds if you ask us to repeat a step until you understand it. Later in the class we move onto harder dances for the more experienced dancers.
