| THE COLONY NEWS | APRIL 2025 | 3 From the Desk of Gregg Ross Hello Colony! Spring has sprung. Time for new beginnings and fresh starts. Speaking of that, the Board has decided to make some changes to Meet the Director meetings. We will probably have a new format. Nothing concrete yet. More to come! I had to submit this article by March 5, so I have no updates on any litigation outcomes. All I know is we are moving in the right direction, and the end of litigation is hopefully nearing an end. Yes, dues are going up May 1. So, update your bank payments, if needed. What hasn't gone up? Has anyone's insurance gone down or stayed the same? Taxes? Labor? Foods? Goods? We are not exempt from increasing costs. We can bury our heads and wish it weren't so, but that does not eradicate the facts. Everything costs more! We had four years that our dues were subsidized increases. No money out of pocket, but nothing is free. We drew down our equity. It would be irresponsible to not keep up with rising expenses. If next year prices stabilize, who knows, we may be able to keep the dues the same. If they don't, we have to stay in step. With the nicer weather upon us, there are things you can do to hopefully keep your costs down — exercise and socialize. e health benefits are enormous. Get out there if possible and join in on the many amenities. It has been proven that exercise and being social help keep us healthier. It could cut down on your medical expenses. Even if not, why not! Have yourselves a wonderful time living here. Take care and stay positive.
