30 | LIFE IN SOLERA | APRIL 2025 |
"Eat, Drink, and Be Irish" was the theme of March's Solera Bon Appetit
Cooking Club's event. And boy, did we! Most of us were sporting a bit of the green in our
apparel as we gathered for a St Patrick's Day celebration.
We asked Cherie from Thomas Catering for an Irish Stew and Irish soda bread. She
delivered a delicious hot and tasty stew brimming with beef and usual vegetables. Soda
bread completed the serving. The stew and bread were delicious and nutritious, so we all
had extra cookies and our favorite Irish "additions" to coffee.
During the meal, Tina Shrader provided interesting tidbits of information on Irish topics
as well as debunking a few misconceptions we may entertain. For instance, Guinness beer
is not black but a very dark red due to its specific brewing process.
Best of all, the Bon Appetit Board provided this meal free of charge to members as a
thank you for all the glorious times we have had together.
George Vawter provided fantastic photography and a lovely video is available on Vimeo.
Solera Bon Appetit Cooking Club is open to new members year-round, and we would love
to see others join us at our next meeting on Fri., April 4 from 1 to 3 pm in the Clubhouse.
The theme will be Spring has Sprung. There will be a demonstration of the preparation
of delicious spring salads, and we will have a variety of dressings for the members to try.
There will be no cost to members for this event.
Please be aware of the need to RSVP by the date stated in the f lyer, usually a week before
the event, so we can provide appropriate accommodations for each of you.
Solera Bon Appetit dues are $30 for the year, and we meet on the first Friday of each
month in the clubhouse. If you would like to attend, or if you have questions, please contact
our Secretary Debra Eudy at bonappetitcookingclubsolera@gmail.com or phone/text (951)
